  • Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

On September 13, Burlington Agape Community Church held a Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration. The church minister Pastor John explained the original meaning of the Mid-Autumn Festival as giving thanks for the harvest and a time of gathering of family and friends. It’s a good opportunity for us to gather together with friends because for many of us, families are not around. And he gave a prayer of thanks to God and for the time together. Then they had a potluck meal and meet old and new friends. They had a great time celebrating this festival together and are very thankful for this event.

    NYC Pentecost Retreat

Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the followers of Jesus Christ. On the first Pentecost after the resurrection of Jesus, the believers received the Holy Spirit and started to witness for Jesus Christ everywhere. Agape Community Church will celebrate this Pentecost in New York City with believers from the Northeast Region by devoting to God’s word and prayer, expecting the greater works of the Holy Spirit. There will be no Sunday service locally on Pentecost Sunday. You are welcome to join us for this celebration or come to visit us next week.

    50 Days to Pentecost

Pentecost, which is celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Easter, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost). As it’s written in Acts 1, there were three main themes in the life of the disciples during these fifty days at that time: the meaning of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. The believers today will also benefit from making these three themes the focus of their meditation. We would like to invite all congregation or even every reader of this post to have a meaningful time to Pentecost.

Lent – A Season of Spiritual Renewal

Why do we celebrate Lent? Lent originally was a training period for baptismal candidates who were required to fast, and then it became a period of self-abasement and repentance for the Catholic church and some traditions. Many people would fast or give up some certain things. However, we understand more than what we do, it should be about what Christ did. And it should be a spiritual period to meditate on the passion of Christ deeply and experience spiritual renewal. The church invited members to participate in this 40-day spiritual journey, using “The Cross of Christ” daily devotional material.
